Should Freelancer Rent Office Space

As a freelancer, I have considered pros and cons to work from home vs. having a physical office location on many occasions. There are many real benefits to working at home versus going to work. Let’s search, there are also many benefits to having a physical location, even for a small business. Here are some key factors that show how having a physical office location is a better marketing strategy:
[Address]. Having a business address can actually play a big role in your business’s online visibility. Local businesses with physical locations tend to appear more prominent online than businesses without. As we know, we are in a decade of technology where everything is right at our fingertips. If we do not know the answer to a question, we immediately search online for it. This is what we do when dealing with business services. If an address can improve your online visibility, it’s definitely something to watch out for.

[Innovation]. While people feel innovating at different times and in different ways, is the fact that sharing ideas can make people more innovative. If you work at home and do not regularly communicate with your employees or other partners, it will be difficult to realize the innovative aspects of the physical workplace. While we have video chat features like Skype, it’s not the same as face-to-face collaborative brainstorming.

[Focus]. This one is the most obvious to me. As a freelancer working from home, I realize how difficult it is to keep my work load on certain days. There are so many opportunities to distract while working from home, making it difficult to focus. The nice thing about having an office is that you pay great attention to your workload once you are in the office.

[Consistent Schedule]. I noticed that my schedule was never consistent when I first started off. There will be a day where I will sleep until noon and will not start working long hours after waking up. I would then stay up late and destroy the opportunity to wake up early the next day. Having an office rental gives you a set schedule, while still giving you the freedom to come to the office on the days you choose.

[Psychological Benefits]. Bevmax Headquarters is writing an article that I find very interesting. In the article, they discussed the benefits of freelancers who rent offices. One of the reasons listed is the psychological benefits. They claim that getting out of the office can be a rare occurrence for some casual workers. I know from experience, that this is actually very true. As I began to receive more clients, I realized that I did not set the right schedule for myself to have a lot of social life. I am constantly fighting deadlines and working late into the night. Going to the office gives you a chance to get out of the house, interact socially with passerbys people, and also give you a networking opportunity surrounded by other business offices. Should Freelancer Rent Office Space

Working from home is also important for freelancers. It is important to consider office leasing for important team meetings and conferences. Getting a team together personally can have phenomenal benefits across an organization. If you are an entrepreneur who is not at the team meeting stage, it is equally important to consider a virtual office that has a physical address. Agency rental agencies, such as Bevmax, offer many facilities for their virtual office packages. Having a designated mailing address and fax service is definitely one of the many reasons.

It’s A Women’s World: The ‘Ladies’ Château’ of the Loire Valley

It’s A Women’s World: The ‘Ladies’ Château’ of the Loire Valley

A French barge cruise on one of European Waterways luxurious, fully-crewed barge hotels is an experience to remember. We firmly believe that there is no better way to explore the Continent than from the water.
The Nymphea hosts our French barge cruise in the Loire Valley, passing under the remarkable five-arch bridge of the Château de Chenonceau. Built in a pale grey stone, the bridge’s symmetrical curves are juxtaposed against the castle’s pointed turrets and enchant our guests time and time again

It’s not only architecture and engineering buffs who fall in love on the banks of the River Cher. The unique history of the Château – spanning from the early sixteenth century to the modern day – is well worth discovering.

Hidden Histories

Cruising beneath the repeated arches of the gallery aboard our French barge cruise, our guests often wonder who created them.

Today we are looking at some of the famous inhabitants of the ‘Ladies’ Château’ – the women who shaped both this beautiful building and France.

The Mistress: Diane de Poitiers

Intellectual, royal-favourite Diane de Poitiers lived in sixteenth-century France; no decorative wallflower, Diane was intelligent and politically savvy. She became so well-liked by King Henry II that she often wrote and signed official correspondence on his behalf using the portmanteau ‘HenriDiane’.

Diane was also the King’s mistress for over two decades – perhaps the most powerful woman in the country. As Henry’s mistress she was given the Château de Chenonceau. Diane not only lovingly developed the gardens, she commissioned the stunning arched bridge spanning the river – one of the most iconic architectural features of the Loire Valley.

The Wife: Catherine de’Medici

Catherine de’Medici was the wife of Henry II and, understandably, was jealous Diane’s influential position in Henry’s court. After Henry’s death Catherine forced Diane de Poitiers, the legal owner of the property, to leave and triumphantly took possession herself. Determined to make the Château her own, Catherine installed a grand gallery running across Diane’s bridge – the strong-willed widow had successfully displaced the trusted mistress.

Under Catherine’s management, the castle became the site for many extravagant parties and, rumour has it, the first ever firework display in France lit up the sky over one of her night time revels.

The Saloniste: Louise Dupin

During the French Enlightenment, eighteenth-century French women were at the centre of literary, artistic and cultural advancements. Louise Dupin, who lived in the Château de Chenonceau with her husband, formed a literary salon there which drew in leaders of the Enlightenment movement such as Voltaire, Condillac, Buffon and Bernard le Bovier de Fontenelle.

An intelligent woman herself, Louise saved the building during the widespread destruction of property prompted by the Revolution. Louise pointed out that the arched bridge provided a rare crossing place on the river essential for the movement of people and trade. As a result of her quick thinking and bravery we can enjoy the splendour of the Château de Chenonceau in the twenty-first century.

The Gnarliest Waves at Nazareé, Portugal: Not For the Faint-Hearted

The Gnarliest Waves at Nazareé, Portugal: Not For the Faint-Hearted

The little Portuguese fishing village of Nazaré is a surfing hotspot during the summer months, but in winter only the real thrill-seekers stick around. One of these is undoubtedly Garrett McNamara, the big wave big boy from the US, who in 2011 broke the record for the biggest wave ever surfed — and he smashed it right here in Nazaré.
Big Names, Bigger Waves

This monster wave measured 78 feet and in 2013 McNamara returned to Nazaré where he surpassed his own record, riding an absolute whopper estimated to be 100 feet tall. Later that year, Carlos Burle of Brazil conquered a wave that seemed even bigger, winning international recognition with surfers worldwide.

In 2014 Andrew Cotton from Plymouth followed suit, and is now known as one of the 4 surfers who have ridden the hugest waves around these parts. He started surfing when he was seven, so if you want to check out these waves you’re going to need a lot of practice or some pretty decent surf travel insurance…

Why Such Big Waves?!

Nazaré is such a Mecca for surfers because of its enormous waves, and these waves exist for our adrenaline-fuelled enjoyment thanks to the make up of its ocean floor topography. Just like Hawaii’s Banzai Pipeline, the Tahitian Teahupoo and northern California’s Mavericks (amazing surfing spots any surfer worth their salt know!), Nazaré’s ocean floor boasts a huge underwater gorge.

The Nazaré Canyon stretches 125 miles, starting barely half a mile from the shore and reaching way out into the abyssal plain of the Atlantic Ocean. At 16,000 feet, its unbelievable depth, coupled with its perfect positioning, helps to magnify the waves that approach the Praia do Norte beach in Nazaré. It’s because of this that almost every single day you can bear witness to monster waves up to 4 times the size of those found elsewhere along the coast.

Daredevils and Pros Alike: Surf Travel Insurance is as Essential as Board Wax!

It’s undisputed that tackling these waves is not for the faint of heart. Monster waves often move much faster than others, which forces boarders to get distance from the dangerous, frothy white water as fast as they can.

This kind of surfing is less about aesthetics than its tamer cousin: think extreme sport rather than showy carving, quick cutbacks and pretty floaters. This is about braving the aggro (bad weather), tough conditions and brutal waves while trying to remain upright and avoid reef injuries, wipeout, or even death…

While we wouldn’t recommend big wave surfing to those who aren’t pros, now is a good time to start planning your summer surf trip to enjoy the sun and sea at your (adventurous) leisure! Before you race off to enjoy the surf, travel insurance is a must-buy. Embrace the waves without the fear of monstrous medical bills should anything go wrong. You never know, with a little practice you could even be the next big name to be borne of Nazarés big waves! Surf’s up!

The equipment is mostly needed by a horse owner

The equipment is mostly needed by a horse owner

With the ever-increasing range of horse equipment available on the market we have a look at the essentials that every horse owner should have.
Well other than the horse your first thing you need is a halter. The continental design is the best as it allows for the use of a chain. Most halters manufactured today are continental in design. Extra features include safety clips (they are important if you intend turning your horse out with a halter on) lining for the nose and poll. Which one you select will largely depend on your budget and taste, as they are available in almost every possible.

Next you will need a lead rope, a thicker softer lead rope is advisable, and if it has a loop on the end cut it off or loosen it, lead reins should never have a loop at the end. Ideally a lead rein should measure between 5-7 feet in length, as they are the most versatile

Spare feeder and water bucket even if your horse is boarded it is yours. It is advisable to have at least two hay nets as well

Grooming kit also advisable to have two of if possible allowing for changeover and cleaning without interrupting the grooming routine. Mark your hoofpick well, as it is usually the first thing to wander off in any yard. Invest in a few spares.

Two working bridles, it is advisable when buying a horse to bridle (unless it’s a Keiffer or Stubben that is) Buy a spare bridle and oil it is well to have available in the event of the working bridle breaking

Working boots Brushing boots is advisable for everyday riding, unless your horse requires specialized boots, which you will be informed of when purchasing, or after having the horse vetted. Speak to your stable manager or instructor as to the most suitable boots.

Saddle a well-fitted saddle that’s your choice and riding style. Check your saddle every three months to ensure it’s correct fit.

Rugs and clothing Day sheet, used mostly after bathing a horse to get the coat to lie flat, of for traveling.

Sweat sheet used to cool your horse down and prevent chills on cool or cold days. Often confused with a flysheet, a sweat sheet has the same appearance as a flysheet. It is however heavier and does not have the belly straps

Flysheet if you own a gray horse or one with sweet itch this should be placed on horses whilst turned out to prevent insect bites and stings.

Exercise blanket. If your horse is to be clipped in the winter and it snows in your area warm whist working.

Rugs Depending on your stabling arrangements and climate may require up to three rugs. If stabled your horse could have a lighter duvet rug whilst indoors, and then have this exchanged for a New Zealand or Weatherbeta for when turned out. It is advisable to have at least two turnout rugs should you have wet winters with snow, as this allows for them to dry properly prior to being used on the horse again.

Should your horse live out at least two New Zealand rugs. Ensure that the waterproof lining is intact and not allowing moisture to seep through.

Bandages Exercise bandages, these are made of elastic or ribbed fabric, although not as fashionable as boots, horse exercise bandages have one benefit over boots. Used to protect the legs whilst in work and to support tendons. Also helps with beeping the legs warm in the winter.

Stable bandages These are made of wool of flannelling, today they are often made of fleecing. Every owner needs at least one pair on stable bandages; These are used from bandaging for warmth or for drying of legs to extra support for wound horse dressings.

What’s in Store for the Future of the Transport Industry?

What’s in Store for the Future of the Transport Industry?

For quite a few years the transport industry stayed relatively stagnant – communication between drivers and shippers may have upgraded from CB radios to cell phones and handwritten logs to emails, but overall the data collected and passed on the same. Like most industries though, the smartphone is set to turn the industry on its head. Now, with the intervention of smart devices we can transfer much more data, and collect it in real-time. In addition to smart devices allowing us to always stay connected, engine and vehicle technology has been making leaps and bounds over the past decade, leading to greener vehicles, and venturing into the realm of autonomous cars and trucks.

Going Green
Although it is not always at the top of a lot of executives list, going green is a huge movement coming through the transport industry. Millennials and other young adults are watching the future payout that going green will have on all industries, which is making it a huge investment opportunity. The first companies that are willing to take some profits in order to convert their profits in the near future, leading to much greater profits for their company.

Autonomous vehicles
This is another important topic when discussing advances in vehicle technology. When fully enabled self-driving trucks make headway into the shipping industry, it’s going to be an interesting show to watch. Will there still need for individual truck drivers? Will there be remote driving assistance needed for these vehicles? There are a lot of questions that need to be answered before self-driving trucks show up, and time may be running out.

Data Connectivity
In today’s trucks, you have not only a digital device with Bluetooth connectivity, allowing hands-free use of most integral smartphone functions. GPS navigation and internet connectivity. With those functions, drivers can be connected with their shipping managers at all times. Current apps can already allow shipping carriers and brokers to automatically track shipments through freight visibility apps. In future, in-vehicle apps can be created that link with existing fleet tracking apps to allow driver input while on the road.

Seamless Data Integration
As mentioned before, freight tracking smartphone apps now allow managers to monitor shipments in real time, getting accurate updates on location, Live ETAs and more. What this also allows is for this data collection to be integrated into their supply chain management system, allowing easy data collection and organization. With this, from one hub a shipment manager can pull up real-time data on all of their shipments, from one digital dashboard.

When you look at the world, you may find a large number of options for payroll management companies – some offer cheap services, some give the best but are expensive, some are amateurs and some are very experienced. Now comes a serious question about how to choose the right one for your company?

Just because a newly established company offers many offers in incentives or discounts, there’s no harm in choosing it. An experienced salary provider can explicitly showcase a list of happy clients with a proven track record. Therefore, it is useful to choose wise rather than experiment with new ones.

2. Customized Approach: Another aspect in choosing a paycheck provider is choosing which gives you a customized platform. Payroll providers can be personalized and explicitly designed for the specific needs of the company. The paycheck provider must provide all-time service to the business owner. Also understanding the business model and adjusting salaries and even tax requirements should be ensured.

3.Use competent technology: Software improves and facilitates ease of payroll management. Make sure you choose a payroll provider that is familiar with high-end techniques and can provide you with an independent platform service all the time. With the effective technology used, business owners get the flexibility to use and monitor payroll services anywhere and from any platform.

4.Transparency Rates: Make sure there are no hidden costs that can be applied in the payroll process. It is important to have a clear picture of pricing, to avoid unfriendly encounters.

5.Inclusive services: Most payroll providers look into complete payroll management that includes – recruitment, attendance, leaves, tax payments, compensation, retirement, etc. from employees. With a payroll provider that manages all this employee related data, business owners can fully focus on revenue growth.

Choosing the right vendor for your payroll management is an important decision. Therefore think about and decide what is really important for the future of your business.

Cheers and Beers: Laidback Venues in La Plagne

Cheers and Beers: Laidback Venues in La Plagne

Many people believe that après ski is all about thumping music, dancing on tables and staying up all night. Whilst this certainly is possible and great fun on occasion, it is not for everyone.
Fortunately, places like La Plagne have great diversity and suitable establishments for every taste. If your tabletop dancing days are behind you but you still enjoy a few beers and a laugh, La Plagne has plenty of more relaxed, pub-style venues to choose from.

These boozers are great places for having a few beers, chilling with your mates and ex-changing your stories from the day with fellow skiers. You can then leave at a reasonable hour and retire to your catered chalet. La Plagne has many great drinking establishments, but read on to find out which ones you simply cannot miss!

Bar La Mine – Brilliantly located in the heart of the action at Plagne 1800, English pub Bar la Mine has DJs and live music, TVs showing live sport and a mining theme. It also has an enormous selection of beers, ciders and wines. It is a popular après spot, so there is always a lively and friendly atmosphere, but there is also plenty of space to sit down and talk or watch the game. The venue is right next to the slopes, making it the perfect place to meet after a long day on the slopes.

Igloo Igloo – This is a funky bar that’s designed like an igloo, and is found inside Plagne Centre’s Galérie du Pelvoux. Step inside and you will be blown away by the neon colours and icy decor, featuring half life-sized polar bears and penguins. Igloo Igloo is a premier spot for DJs and live bands, but you can also sit down on the faux-ice white seats and sip on a homemade cocktail. There are even complimentary nibbles if you get there early, and many patrons comment on the friendliness of the staff.

Le Luna Bar – If you’re looking for a cool rustic-style pub with dim lights, lots of seating and a chilled out atmosphere with occasional live music, Le Luna Bar is the right place for you. It offers a refreshing change of pace from the clubs, which can be hard to have a conversation in. I really like this bar because it has fun pub games on hand, such as table football, darts and pool. Beers, whiskies, cocktails, wines and non-alcoholic drinks are all on the menu, and it is a great spot for a relaxed drink after shredding powder. You can find Le Luna Bar in the Plagne Centre, and is likely to be just a stone’s throw away from your catered chalet. La Plagne regulars often cite this as the best establishment for a relaxed pub in the area.

Bar le 5 a 7 Siete – Bar le 5 a 7 Siete is located in La Plagne Soleil/Village, and is my number one choice for a drink in the area. This cosy wine bar is ideal after a freezing day on the slopes, as you can get comfortable in front of the roaring log fire, sip on your favourite wine and catch up with friends. Alternatively, order tapas and enjoy them out on the brilliant sun terrace, from where you can enjoy lovely views of the surrounding area.

These are just a few of the great drinking establishments, but there are many others to choose from. The best part is that you never have to venture far from your catered cha-let! La Plagne attracts groups of young friends looking for fun yet casual nights out, and it is easy to see why

Go Sky High & Ski Free in Courmayeur

Go Sky High & Ski Free in Courmayeur

Courmayeur, nestled in the Italian Alps at the foot of Mont Blanc, may be famous as an elegant ski resort but for those who want the snow and mountains without the high octane thrills, it also offers a range of other activities.
With exclusive boutiques and excellent restaurants scattered around the resort’s pretty pedestrianised centre, combined with the short transfer from Geneva to Courmayeur, it makes a wonderful spot for a winter break, even without the skiing.

Mountain Views Without Skis

Restaurants and boutiques are all very well, but if you’ve come to the Alps for stunning mountain views but don’t want to do too much walking then you’ll be thrilled to discover that the Skyway Monte Bianco cable car makes the mountains accessible to all.

First built as a way of connecting the Italians of Courmayeur with the town of Chamonix in France as early as the 1930s, the original cables were destroyed by French fighter planes during World War Two.

After the war, a station was opened at 3300m, but engineers were unable to reach the summit due to the shifting glacier ice. It wasn’t until 2015 that the top station at Punta Helbronner was finally opened at 3466m.

Today the Skyway Monte Bianco takes visitors from Courmayeur, up through a series of stations, to the summit of Mont Blanc with views of many of the Alps’ highest peaks.

Spend Time at the Skyway Stations

Starting at Pontal, visitors are swept up the face of Mont Blanc to the first station of Pavillon du Mont Fréty.

Those who just want to feel they are at the heart of the mountain landscape will enjoy spending the day at the station here, enjoying the botanical garden (which specialises in Alpine plants) or relaxing in its restaurant, shopping area or cinema.

For a truly breathtaking view of the Alps, carry on up the cable car to the top station at Punta Helbronner. The modern structure (designed to look like a shard of ice) has a 360º viewing terrace and a crystal museum, as well as a café, bar and restaurant.

Relax with a Skyway Spa

Put all thoughts of aching skiing muscles out of your mind and instead imagine staying at the Pré-Saint-Didier Spa and indulging in its ‘Spa and Cable Car’ package. The deal includes days spent on Mont Blanc at the Skyway’s beautiful stations, followed by relaxing, rejuvenating treatments in the spa’s elegant therapy rooms.

How to Get There

Since relaxation and beautiful scenery is at the heart of your winter break to Courmayeur, it’s good to know that getting there couldn’t be easier. There are regular flights from the UK to Geneva, and a short, easy transfer of an hour and a half from Geneva to Courmayeur.

For the ultimate stress-free transfer from Geneva to Courmayeur, book an executive car with Shuttle Direct before you leave home and we’ll be there to meet you at the arrivals lounge when you land and take you directly to your resort accommodation.
